Shabbat Evening Service

Friday, January 28, 2022 26 Sh'vat 5782

6:00 PM - 7:00 PMB'nai Zion Congregation & YouTube

Rabbi Jana leads Shabbat Evening Service at B'nai Zion.

The B'nai Zion Board has decided to switch to the new Reform Jewish prayerbook, Mishkan Tefilah. We will be using the prayerbook that is being used in most Reform congregations, and the summer camps, and more. It is filled with beautiful prayers and blessings that speak to us now, and inspirational and informational materials that will make our services more meaningful.

Note that Mishkan T'filah comes in Shabbat-only version, Weekdays & Holy Days version, complete (Shabbat, Weekdays, Holy Days). There is a version without transliteration and a version where everything is transliterated. B'nai Zion will have copies of the Shabbat only transliterated prayerbook in the pews.

Some of you may remember that we were part of a group of 300 congregations that tested the Friday Evening service. We were very glad to see that they incorporated most of the suggestions we made into the final version that was published in 2007. We look forward to using the prayerbook that we helped to create.

The service is streamed to watch live or later on the B'nai Zion YouTube channel. Watch HERE.

The Reform Movement is currently allowing people to access a "flipbook" version of Mishkan T'filah, because many congregations are still relying on online services during the pandemic.

If you choose to join us in-person, masks are required for everyone at B'nai Zion. If you do not feel well, or are not vaccinated, please watch on YouTube.

After the service we plan to have a Zoom Oneg Shabbat, which will start around 7:30 PM. The starting time will depend on when the service ends, and when Rabbi Jana can begin the Zoom.
