Wondering: What are Your Favorite Memories about Bethany Sorkey and her Family? DEADLINE 2/16
This week I am wondering about how to show our appreciation to Bethany Sorkey and her family. Bethany and Alan will be moving soon. We of course plan to have a big party to show our appreciation for all that she has done for the Jewish community - but while we are still in the pandemic, and before they leave, we will honor them during Shabbat services NEXT WEEK (6pm Friday, February 18, 2022 in-person or watch on YouTube).
We would like a few people to say a few words about her time as Sisterhood President, Religious School Teacher, Camp Chai Director, Jewish Federation Executive Director, Passover Seder Coordinator, Challah Baker Extroadinaire... and more.
I promised Bethany that we would keep it brief - and save something for the big party that we will do as soon as the time is right (their children are staying in Shreveport, so they will be back). For now we will be doing this simple farewell during the regular Shabbat Evening Service 6pm Friday, February 18. You can join us in-person or watch on YouTube.
This week I am wondering: Would you please reply to this email or bring to the office: stories, pictures, special memories, wishes, etc. so that we can share it with Bethany and her family next Shabbat. Please send everything no later than midnight Wednesday, February 16 to be included as part of the service. If you want to say a few words during the service, please let me know.
Sorry about the short notice. We want to wish them well before they leave, and just found out how soon that will be. Remember that we also plan to have something bigger at a later date. Plus, we can continue to be in touch with Bethany and Alan and let them know directly.
