for Rosh HaShanah
(pickup is Thursday, September 22 for Rosh HaShanah)

-FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
for Yom Kippur
(pickup is Tuesday, October 4 for Yom Kippur)

It is a tradition to eat round challah for the fall Jewish Holy days. Many people have round challah for Rosh HaShanah to symbolically acknowledge the cyclical nature of the year. Some people will continue to eat round challot for all of the Jewish fall festivals (including before and after Yom Kippur, and all throughout Sukkot). Note that the round challot are not really circles; they are spirals. The year may be cyclical, but we are changed every year. The Hebrew word for Shanah ("year") also means "change."
