B'nai Zion Congregation and the Shreveport Jewish community in conjunction with the University of First Presbyterian is hosting Estelle Laughlin to speak 12 PM Sunday, December 22nd for lunch. Estelle is a survivor of the Holocaust, including the Warsaw ghetto and then concentration camps, before immigrating to the US at the age of 18. She has written a memoir entitled Transcending Darkness that has been published and of which some copies will be on hand at the event. She will tell parts of her story followed by question and answer time co-moderated by Pastor Chris Currie and Rabbi Jana.
