Friday, March 8, 2024 • 28 Adar I 5784
6:00 PM - 7:00 PMB'nai Zion Congregation & YouTubeRabbi Jana & Adam Philley will lead the Shabbat Evening Service in-person at B'nai Zion.
Razom for Ukraine is one of the largest aid and advocacy organizations in North America focused on Ukraine. We are bringing former LSU basketball star Roman Rubchenko to Shreveport, La. He is also a Harvard Kennedy School grad and a Kyiv-based entrepreneur. He’s eager to tell more people in Louisiana about the situation in Ukraine two years after the full-scale invasion began.
LSU basketball star Roman Rubchenko was born in Soviet Ukraine. In 1991, while on a trip to
play in a basketball tournament as part of the Ukraine junior team, Roman defected to the
United States and asked for political asylum.
Escaping lies, oppression, and the suffocating control of the Soviet regime, Roman wanted to
live in a free and just society, governed by the rule of law and respect for human rights, and he
quickly made Louisiana his home.
From 1992-1996, Roman was lucky enough to be coached by the legendary Dale Brown at
Louisiana State University.
From 1996-2004, Roman played for professional basketball teams in Turkey, Uruguay, Israel (with Hapoel Eilat in the Israeli Basketball Premier League), Spain, France, Poland, Belgium, and Portugal.
His career includes stints at top management consulting firms, including BCG, Partners in
Performance, and Roland Berger.
Roman holds a BS from Louisiana State University, an MBA from the Ross School of Business
at the University of Michigan, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
The service is streamed to watch live or later on the B'nai Zion YouTube channel. Watch HERE
