We are discussing: Our next book will be The Heart of a Stranger: An Unlikely Rabbi’s Story of Faith, Identity, and Belonging, the recently released memoir by Rabbi Angela Buchdahl. She is the Korean-American senior rabbi at Central Synagogue in Manhattan.
From Helaine: Her story is fascinating, and I very much recommend that you listen to it because she narrates it herself, and in the audio version she sings short musical interludes. Rabbi Buchdahl is also an ordained cantor. The book is available on Audible, but also from the premium subscription to Spotify. It’s also on Kindle. At the end of each chapter the rabbi gives a short d’var Torah based on a Hebrew word or phrase. I loved this book- interesting, thought-provoking, and very inspiring.
