*YKE01 (09) Bless the Candles (Hebrew and English)
The candles should already be lit. The Rabbi will have some introductory things to say. The Rabbi will ask everyone to turn to page 9, and will say the blessing at the top of the page (for the Yizkor candle). While the Rabbi leads the reading that begins "The human spirit" PLEASE COME TO THE CANDLE TABLE. You will lead the two blessings on the bottom of page 9. You can do any combination of Hebrew and/or English. The first blessing is the candle blessing. PLEASE NOTE: Add the blue "Shel Shabbat" during years when the holy day falls on Shabbat. The second blessing is Shehecheyanu - note that the choir sings the Candle blessing and the Shehecheyanu after you finish. You may return to your seat in the congregation when the choir finishes singing.
