Shreveport 150th Yellow Fever Commemoration at Oakland Cemetery

The city of Shreveport will be commemorating the 1873 Yellow Fever Epidemic at the mass grave in Oakland Cemetery that entombs together over 800 victims. Mayor Arceneaux will speak and we will have an opportunity for ecumenical and inter-faith prayer as a community. The "Yellow Fever Mound" entombs people of all ages, with a diversity of ethnic and religious backgrounds. Please plan to be present for this historic occasion. Rabbi Jana has been asked to offer a prayer/reflection. Oakland Cemetery is B'nai Zion's first Cemetery in Shreveport.
