    We welcome all skill levels - even if you have never played before. Come try or just watch. It is a non-competitive fun evening. Use the doors at the front entrance by the Lefkowitz Hall, and knock to be let into the building. This invitation is for Members of BZ (who may bring one guest with them).

    Simchat Torah & Simcha Shabbat Evening Service

    Friday, Oct 6th 6:00p to 7:00p
    Join us for Shabbat evening service when we will celebrate Simchat Torah by dancing with the Torah scrolls and reading the last section of the Torah and the first section of the Torah. We will have a Consecration for our young students. We will bless and honor everyone with birthdays or anniversaries in October.

    Simchat Torah / Sh'mini Atzeret and Yizkor/Memorial Morning Service

    Shabbat, Oct 7th 10:00a to 11:00a
    Celebrate Sh'mini Atzeret and Simchat Torah - a Yom Tov (Holy Day) according to the Torah. We will have a special Yom Tov service honoring the Torah, that will include a Yizkor (Memorial) service. We will use the Memorial Books that were created for Yom Kippur this year.

    Shreveport 150th Yellow Fever Commemoration at Oakland Cemetery

    Shabbat, Oct 7th 1:00p to 2:00p
    The city of Shreveport will be commemorating the 1873 Yellow Fever Epidemic at the mass grave in Oakland Cemetery that entombs together over 800 victims. Mayor Arceneaux will speak and we will have an opportunity for ecumenical and inter-faith prayer as a community. The "Yellow Fever Mound" entombs people of all ages, with a diversity of ethnic and religious backgrounds. Please plan to be present for this historic occasion. Rabbi Jana has been asked to offer a prayer/reflection. Oakland Cemetery is B'nai Zion's first Cemetery in Shreveport.

    Yard Sale at Agudath Achim

    Sunday, Oct 15th 9:00a to 2:00p
    Agudath Achim will be selling merchandise including furniture, china sets, art work, small appliances, and books. If you would like to include your merchandise, you can contact Agudath Achim. They are making tables available to sell your own merchandise for $15 per table. B’nai Zion may also have an area to sell merchandise. If you would like to bring things for B’nai Zion to sell, please contact the B’nai Zion office. Volunteers are also really needed to help staff the event for all or part of the day. Contact the Agudath Achim office or Susan Gross for details to help.
