OMER COUNTING:   

Begin counting the Omer Tuesday evening, April 23. Continue to count each day (and week) through Shavuot (the Festival of "Weeks").

SHAVUOT

B'nai Zion will be celebrating Shavuot during the Confirmation & Graduation service 6pm Monday June 10, and during a Zoom service 11am Wednesday June 12.

YIZKOR

The Shavuot services will also include Yizkor. To see this year's Yizkor names go to the B'nai Zion Yizkor page

We will be using the 5784 Memorial book.

If it is your tradition to light a Yizkor candle, remember to light it before sundown Tuesday, June 11. Candles are available in the B'nai Zion office. 

RECURRING EVENTS:

SHABBAT:
Evening Services are 6pm Friday in-person at B'nai Zion and on YouTube.

Morning Torah Study and Services are 9:45am on Zoom.

FUN:

Pickleball and Ping-Pong 
at BZ 6pm every Wednesday

Mah-Jongg  Each month 6pm 1st & 3rd Wednesdays; 1pm 2nd & 4th Tuesdays. Register at the North Louisiana Jewish Federation site HERE.

ENRICHMENT:

People of the Book Club: We are discussing  “Your Presence is Mandatory” by Sasha Vasilyuk.  - POSTPONED. Date not yet set.

ADULT EDUCATION: 7-9pm Wednesdays: Understanding Judaism

    Place Flags at Gravesites for Memorial Day

    Sunday, May 26th 9:30a to 11:30a
    For Memorial Day we will be placing or replacing flags at the graves of the veterans in the four Jewish cemeteries in Shreveport: 9:30am the Agudath Achim cemetery at the intersection of Walnut and Yale; 10am B'nai Zion section of Greenwood Cemetery on Stoner Avenue; 10:30am B'nai Zion Cemetery on Texas Avenue; 10:45am B'nai Zion section of Oakland Cemetery. *Times are approximate. We will move from one cemetery to the next. Arrival and departure time for each cemetery will depend on how long we spend in each cemetery.  Please contact the office if you see veteran grave sites with no flags. Please let Rabbi Jana know if you are planning to come.

    Pickleball for Fun: Play or Watch at BZ

    We welcome all skill levels - even if you have never played before. Come try or just watch. It is a non-competitive fun evening. Use the doors at the front entrance by the Lefkowitz Hall, and knock to be let into the building. This invitation is for Members of BZ (who may bring one guest with them).
